Creative Communities Commissions (CCC)

FoR ENC has worked with community leaders to identify up to fifteen people who, together, comprise each town's Creative Community Commission.  These Commissions are pivotal in representing the views of the respective communities and ensuring that the Creative Communities Initiative supports and builds on relevant efforts.  Each town's commission consists of a diverse group of individuals from all walks of life.  Bankers, teachers, students, small business owners, elected officials, retirees, community volunteers and many others serve on these commissions.

MISSION

The CCC members are responsible for representing the interests of their community.  FoR ENC has created the following guidelines to clarify the mission of the CCC members.

Commit, Collaborate, Communicate

It is understood that the composition of the CCC will be representative of the town and that its members will be able to accurately define the community's core values with minimal bias and are able to provide core leadership.

CCC members agree to:

COMMIT

  • Commit to the process for as long as s/he is able
  • Participate in workshops and field trips

COLLABORATE

  • Not hold preconceived ideas or assumptions about what should happen
  • Leave "politics" at home
  • Elect a chair and vice-chair who will be responsible for guiding the process
  • Decide collectively how decisions will be made (by voting or consensus or some combination thereof)

COMMUNICATE

  • Be open about what the CCC wants to do, to find out what the community wants and to be responsive to their needs and wishes
  • Strategically consult with the community on the project

Ideally CCC should be no more than 15 members to ensure manageability.

FoR ENC has worked with the communities to ensure that each CCC meets the criteria outlined above.
